The “Il Collezionista” art gallery in the historic center of Rome is pleased to present the exclusive interview with artworks photo about the artist Josef Kursky
– When did you discover your artistic vocation?
I don’t remember but I know I have a drawing that I did when I was 2 years old. You can see it on my website www.josefkursky.com under the Fine Art History section.
– Which artist and/or cultural current was particularly important for your education?
As a person born in Europe in Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia), my artistic journey is influenced by European culture. My favourite period of the European movement is Art Nouveau, with famous Czech artist Alfons Mucha.
– What should an artist represent with his art?
Each artist has a unique approach to art. In my opinion, he/she should be willing to bring beauty to the world. In my case, my intention is to go beyond the obvious and present a glimpse of the extraordinary.
– What inspires you the most about the world around you?
And what moment is the best to find the atmosphere to express your creative ideas?
I find inspiration everywhere. In the right moment, I try to catch the essence of the situation and transfer it to the canvas. The inspiration is a mystical moment. You cannot describe it by words, only by the creation.
– What techniques do you prefer to create your works?
As artists, we can use any media and/or any materials that’s available, which is our privilege. For now, I mostly prefer to use acrylic colours for my paintings.
